HEAT Conference 2025 – A Powerful Gathering for Climate Resilience

Our first-ever HEAT Conference brought together a unique mix of scientists, urban planners, investors and startup founders—all with one shared goal: tackling climate adaptation through technology.

With climate change already impacting our cities, infrastructure and daily lives, the urgency for AdaptationTech has never been clearer. The discussions at our HEAT Conference made one thing certain: startups are at the forefront of building solutions for a climate-resilient future.

✅ Key Takeaways:

- The need for adaptation is no longer a question—it’s a necessity.

- Startups are developing breakthrough solutions for water management, energy resilience and urban climate adaptation.

- Investors are taking notice - AdaptationTech is emerging as a key focus area.

🔹 Highlights from the event:

Prof. Juergen P. Kropp (PIK - Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research) kicked off the conference with a compelling keynote, highlighting the urgency of action. Anna Friedrich (Berliner Regenwasseragentur) followed with an insightful session on how urban spaces can evolve to withstand the increasing impacts of climate change, having to deal either with too much or too little water.

The startup panel showcased real world solutions, with Moritz Baer (Forward Analytics), Dr. Hamed Beheshti (Boreal Light GmbH) and Robinson Wollersheim (The Landbanking Group) presenting technologies ranging from data-driven climate insights to sustainable water and land management.

On the investor side, Jonas Sommer (DTCF | DeepTech & Climate Fonds), Felix Kaiser (resist.vc) and PT11 Managing Partner Nikolas Samios explored whether AdaptationTech is the next major investment frontier. With growing interest from the venture ecosystem, they debated what it will take to scale these solutions and drive lasting change.

A huge thank you to all our speakers, panelists and attendees for joining and the lively debates!
